As we say goodbye to 2024, we reflect on a year of challenges and resilience, ending with a collection of work that honors our connection to nature and the planet. In recent years, we’ve faced many setbacks in the fight to protect our Madre Tierra, including the results of the latest U.S. election, which will surely bring new challenges. These times can feel scary.

In just the past few months, we’ve seen how climate crisis caused destruction all over the world. While these disasters hurt everyone, they hit marginalized communities and historically abused nations the hardest. We know that women and girls feel the effects of the climate crisis more deeply, because it poses unique threats to their livelihoods, health, and safety.

We’re fighting not just for the planet but for our lives and the lives of future generations. The problems we face are connected: the greed of capitalism and the harm caused by the imperialist industrial complex play a big role in the damage we see. To make real change, many parts of our society need to transform, and we might at times feel powerless against these forces.

Still, even in these times of despair, there is hope, we are that hope. The work in these pages reminds us that we can and should keep fighting. That our connection to the Madre Tierra is still strong, and that reconnecting with nature is our ancestral right. We hope you feel inspired, recharged, and eager to keep the fight going.
