It stung deep to realize that most –if not all– of the media I grew up consuming was never really aimed at me. I was always expected to experience these narratives secondarily, by identifying with the male. Ironically, it was also one of the most liberating and validating experiences I've ever had.

The idea of “Ni Santas, ni putas” comes to mind. It is very well known that in our Latinx communities “purity” is taught to us as our only value. This contrasts with the hyper-sexualization that Latinx femme and non-binary bodies experience in society. It is a real struggle for us to freely and openly experience our sexuality and express our desires in a healthy and empowering way, rather than in shame and secrecy. The words and images in this issue seek to do that. This is a space wherein fact we encourage everyone to be both santas and putas and everything in between.

I was so consumed by you for so long. I wrote poetic fucking shit for you, I painted on my walls, I wrote in my journal, I made inspiring meals. And it was all because I was so insufferably inspired, and lovelorn, and crazed, and in love with you.
