BACK TO SCHOOL INTRO
We hear it all the time, “more Latinas are graduating from college”, in fact, the number of Latinas getting bachelor's or graduate degrees in the US grew 70 percent in the last two decades (1). While this growth is something to be proud of, we cannot believe that this means it is any easier for us to accomplish this. The truth is that it is not easy to navigate institutions that were not designed thinking of us and our specific needs and aspirations. When we reduce our experiences to a statistic, a lot of the nuances that make these achievements so much more important are lost and we can fail to see our own greatness for achieving them. The stories in this issue seek to fight this by opening your eyes to these amazing femmes who continue searching for their own enrichment to achieve their dreams and inspire others in the process.
