The Macho Issue
Welcome to this, our fourteenth issue, where we dive deep into the exploration of masculinity. Through the beautiful work in these pages, we want to open up the conversation about who masculinity belongs to, and who gets to participate into the masculine experience. The truth is that, for many of us, masculinity has been something that we associate with patriarchy, making our experiences with it less-than ideal.
But as Barbie Hurtado puts it in our interview with them, "masculinity doesn't belong to cis men"; it's but a source of energy and inspiration that can help us navigate who we are, who we want to be, and how we want to be d be perceived.
Masculinity, just like femininity, exists within us all, and we shouldn't have to deny or hide them, or let it be defined by anyone else but ourselves. We get to play within both of these spaces and create our very own expression of gender that brings us closer to who we truly are and, hopefully, inspire others to play as well. We invite you to be curious and question, how can you begin to embrace the macho within? Hopefully, this can bring some healing to your relationship with masculinity.
